The six are a 300mm straight rail, cistern rails at 670mm and 750mm, a 750mm rear rail, and dog leg supports in two and three fixing versions. All are wall mounted brushed stainless steel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eWhere each pattern goes\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe cistern rails wrap around the front of a toilet cistern, fitted at 800mm from the floor, giving something to pull against when standing up. The two sizes exist because cisterns differ: the 750mm leaves 190mm of clearance between the inside of the rail and the wall and suits the Vaal Protea paraplegic pan, the 670mm leaves 240mm and suits the Vaal Pearl. Measure before ordering, because that clearance decides whether the rail fits at all.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe dog leg rails are angled side wall supports, intended by the maker to be used alongside a cistern rail rather than instead of it. The two support version fixes at two points and goes next to a toilet or inside a shower cubicle. The three support version is bent at 45 degrees and is fitted with the flat section facing you, so a forearm can rest on it while you push up. The 300mm straight rail is the general purpose one, for a shower wall, beside a bath, or as a door pull.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eWhat they are made of\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll six are brushed grade 304 stainless steel at 32mm diameter, a comfortable size to close a hand around. The brushed finish is deliberate: it grips better than a polished surface when hands are wet, and it shows fingerprints less. Stainless steel also suits a wet room because it needs no coating that can chip or peel. Each rail comes with M6 expansion anchors and cover plates to hide the fixings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eGetting the wall right\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA grab rail is only as good as what it is fixed to. The supplied expansion anchors are made for solid masonry or concrete. If the wall is drywall, hollow block or a boxed in duct, do not fit the rail until a builder has put backing behind it.
