Solace Round Tapware
Solace is a tap range rather than an accessory range, and it leans towards the shower. Of the nine listings here, six are shower fittings: a concealed single lever shower mixer, the same mixer with a diverter, and a hand shower holder and connector, each in chrome and in matt black. The other three are basin mixers. The design is round throughout, with curved bodies and cylindrical spouts, so it sits with round basins and curved accessory ranges.
The shower fittings
Concealed means the valve body is buried in the wall and only the round plate and lever are visible once tiling is done. The plain mixer serves a single outlet. The diverter version adds a knob that moves flow between two outlets, which is how you run a fixed shower rose and a hand shower off one valve, or a shower over a bath. That decision has to be made before the wall is closed, because swapping a concealed body afterwards means breaking out tiling. The maker rates the concealed mixers at 20.0 litres per minute at 300kPa.
Get two things right at installation. Hot and cold supplies must be at balanced pressures, and the pipework must be flushed before the valve is connected, since grit left in a new line is what wrecks a cartridge early. Bodies are DZR brass, which the maker states is used to meet SANS requirements, and the cartridges are SEDAL.
Basin mixers and finishes
The short 110mm basin mixer is listed in both chrome and matt black. The tall 210mm, the one you want for a countertop basin standing proud of the surface, is currently listed in matt black only, so a chrome bathroom with a vessel basin will need checking before you commit to the range. Both are single lever with G1/2 braided connectors and a rated flow of 5.0 litres per minute at 300kPa. The wider Solace range is made in more finishes than the two carried here.
How Solace differs from Valour
Only in shape. Solace is the round design and Valour is the square one, and they share the same product line-up, the same DZR brass bodies, the same SEDAL cartridges and the same rated flow figures.
