Is Finfloor laminate suitable for bathrooms?
Finfloor Style and Original AC5 ranges are high-pressure laminate boards rated for high-traffic residential and light commercial use, with water-resistant treatments on the joint edges. They handle the kind of incidental splashes you get in a powder room, but we do not recommend them for main bathrooms with shower zones, where porcelain tile or vinyl plank is the safer specification. The Sapphire Wide Board collection (Tigers Eye, Pyrite, Pacific Opal, Morganite) is best for living areas, bedrooms, dressing rooms, and dry parts of a home where its warm wood-look surface really earns its keep.
How much Finfloor do I need per square metre?
The Sapphire Wide Board format ships at 2.24 square metres per box, with planks of 1230 x 228 x 5.5mm. To calculate your order, measure each room and multiply width by length in metres, then add 8 to 10 percent wastage for cutting and pattern alignment: a diagonal lay or chevron pattern can need up to 15 percent. Always order all the boxes you need in a single delivery from the same production batch so colour and pattern stay consistent across the floor.
What underlay should I use under Finfloor?
Finfloor needs a quality acoustic and moisture-management underlay rated for floating laminate installation, typically 2 to 3mm thick. The underlay smooths out minor sub-floor irregularities, reduces footfall noise, and adds a thermal layer that makes the floor more comfortable underfoot. Over a concrete slab, you also need a damp-proof membrane underneath the underlay to keep residual moisture out of the boards. How long does Finfloor need to acclimatise before installation?
Allow the boxed boards to sit flat in the room of installation for at least 48 hours before opening, with the boxes stacked horizontally and away from direct sunlight or heat sources. This lets the boards equalise to the room temperature and humidity, which prevents expansion or contraction after installation. Skipping the acclimatisation step is the single most common cause of laminate floor failure.
