Frequently Asked Questions
Are these pendant lights safe for bathroom installation?
It depends on the model and the zone above your bath, shower or basin. Pendants installed above a bath or shower (Zone 1 and 2) must carry an IP44 rating or higher, while those in the dry area of a larger bathroom can use lower ratings. Most of our decorative pendants are designed for living spaces, dining rooms and entrance halls; bathroom-rated options are clearly noted on the product page. Bella Bathrooms & Tiles can recommend the right pendant for each zone if you send your floor plan through.
What bulb type and wattage do these pendants take?
Fittings in this collection use E27, E14 or GU10 lamp bases, and the spec is listed on each product page. The vast majority are now LED-compatible, allowing you to choose warm white (2700K) for a cosy living space or cooler tones (4000K) for kitchens and workspaces. Wattage caps differ by fitting, so check the maximum rating before installing a higher-output bulb. Dimming requires a compatible dimmable LED plus a trailing-edge dimmer switch on the wall.
How high should I hang a pendant over a kitchen island or dining table?
For a kitchen island or dining table, hang the bottom of the pendant roughly 750mm to 900mm above the surface, depending on ceiling height and the size of the shade. Lower placement creates a more intimate pool of light over the surface; higher placement spreads the light more broadly. Cluster multiples in odd numbers (three or five) spaced evenly across longer islands. Our team can sketch a layout against your kitchen drawings during a personalised consultation in Kramerville.
How do I clean and maintain brass, black and aluminium pendants?
Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth: airborne kitchen and bathroom particles dull metal finishes over time. Avoid spraying chemical cleaners directly onto the fitting; spray onto the cloth instead. Brass and copper finishes will develop a natural patina if unlacquered, which many designers actively prefer; if you want to keep them bright, a non-abrasive metal polish used sparingly maintains the shine. Powder-coated black and aluminium need only an occasional damp wipe. Visit the Kramerville showroom to see how each finish behaves under different lighting before you commit.
