Blutide Hand Showers

This is a small page and there is no point pretending otherwise. Thirteen Blutide hand showers are listed here, which makes it the most compact of the Blutide showering categories. What it does cover is the handset itself in four broad shapes, in stainless steel, gunmetal, black, brushed brass and chrome. Blutide is distributed in South Africa by Vortex Sanitaryware.

The shapes on offer

The Tubular handset is the workhorse and appears in five finishes, a slim straight stick with the spray face on the end. The Lollipop is a round disc on a stem, listed in round and black round, and reads as the more contemporary option. Square handsets cover the angular bathrooms, including a 120mm version. Beyond those, Paige, Ella and Bore are listed as named handsets. Blutide does not publish spray pattern names or flow figures for these, so we have not put numbers on them here.

The hose is not on this page

Worth saying plainly, because it catches people out. A hand shower needs a hose to connect it to an outlet, and the Blutide hoses are not filed in this collection. They sit in the wider Blutide range, where you will find flexible and smooth hoses in 1.25m and 1.5m lengths and in finishes including gunmetal, brushed brass and brushed stainless steel. If you are buying a handset on its own, check whether you actually have a serviceable hose before you order.

You may also need an outlet or a wall bracket for the handset to sit in, depending on how the shower or bath is set up. Those are not part of this collection either, so treat a bare handset as one component of three rather than a complete solution.

You might already have one

Before buying, check what your tap included. Blutide lists its wall type bath mixers in several ranges as supplied complete with a wall bracket, hand shower and hose, and nearly all of the Blutide freestanding bath mixers carry a handset on the column. Those are on Blutide bath mixers. For the fixed overhead rose instead, see Blutide shower heads and Blutide shower arms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Blutide hand shower come with a hose?
Not on this page. The thirteen products in this collection are handsets on their own, and the Blutide hoses are listed separately in the wider Blutide range rather than here. If you are replacing a handset and the existing hose is sound, you only need the handset. If you are starting from nothing, order the hose at the same time so you are not waiting on a second delivery.
What length shower hose do I need?
Blutide lists hoses at 1.25m and 1.5m. The shorter one is tidier where the outlet sits close to where the handset is used, such as a bracket on a bath mixer. The 1.5m gives more reach and is the safer choice for a shower cubicle, for rinsing a bath out, or where anyone in the household needs to shower seated. Both are found in the main Blutide range.
Which Blutide hand shower shape should I pick?
It is a styling decision rather than a technical one. The Tubular handset is a slim straight stick and comes in the widest choice of finishes, which makes it the easiest to match to existing tapware. The Lollipop is a round disc on a stem and suits contemporary rooms. Square handsets, including a 120mm version, go with angular baths, basins and trim.
Do I already have a hand shower with my bath mixer?
Quite possibly. Blutide lists its wall type bath mixers in several ranges as supplied complete with a wall bracket, hand shower and hose, and nearly all of the Blutide freestanding bath mixers carry a handset on the column. Check the listing for the tap you bought or are about to buy before adding a handset separately, because you may be paying twice for the same part.
What flow rate do Blutide hand showers have?
Blutide does not publish a flow figure for the handsets in this collection, and we are not going to invent one. A few fixed shower heads elsewhere in the Blutide range do state a rate in their product titles, but none of those figures carry across to these handsets. If you need a specific rate for a project specification, contact us and we will take it up with the supplier.
