Seventeen Blutide shower arms are listed here, and almost nobody writes about this component, which is odd given that it decides where the water actually lands. Fourteen are wall arms and three are vertical arms that drop from the ceiling. Projections run at 150mm, 300mm and 400mm, in chrome, black, gunmetal, brushed brass and brushed stainless steel, so the arm can be matched to the head and the mixer trim. Wall or ceiling
The wall arms fix to a flange on the wall, run out horizontally and turn down through a right angle to a threaded outlet that takes the head. The vertical arms are a different shape entirely, a straight tube with a flange at the top that mounts into the ceiling and points the head straight down. Ceiling arms are the choice when you want the rose centred over the shower floor rather than reaching out from a wall, and they are usually decided at first fix, because the pipe has to be in the ceiling.
Length is the rest of the decision
Projection controls where the water falls. A 400mm arm carries a large rain rose well clear of the wall so the spray lands over the person rather than running down the tiles or the screen. A 300mm arm is the middle option and suits most standard cubicles. The 150mm arms, which are supplied with a cover plate, hold a smaller head close in and work where the cubicle is narrow or the head is one of the compact sizes.
Match the shape as well as the length. Round arms sit with round heads and round trim, and the range is largely round. Then match the finish, because a chrome arm under a black head is the sort of thing that is only noticed after it is installed.
