Dado Quartz Countertop Basins

Fifty-eight DadoQuartz countertop basins, the bulk of the Dado basin range. These are thin-rim bowls cast in solid quartz composite, made to sit on a vanity top rather than be plumbed into a wall. Widths run from 420 mm to 795 mm and bowl depths from 90 mm to 170 mm, so there is a piece for a narrow cloakroom and one for a double vanity.

NOF, and the Two Basins That Are Not

Fifty-six of these fifty-eight are marked NOF, which is Dado's code for No Overflow. There is no slot under the rim, the stone stays unbroken, and the bowl drains only through the waste. The two exceptions are the Ava at 560 x 365 x 120, offered as IOF, Internal Overflow, a concealed channel formed inside the bowl. If a basin is going into a family bathroom or anywhere a tap gets left running, that difference matters, and it is cast in at manufacture rather than added on site. Everything else here needs the plug watched.

Where the Tap Goes

This catches people out. None of the 58 titles carry a WTH or NTH tap hole code, and Dado does not list a tap hole option on the countertop sheets the way it does on the pillar basins, so plan for a wall-mounted mixer or a deck mixer set through the vanity top. The number to check is Dado's top to waste figure, the drop from rim to outlet: 100 mm on the Ava, 111 mm on the Morgane. Add the bowl height above the counter and you have the clearance the spout must give.

Sizing to the Vanity Top

Dado lists these bowls for counter-top or under-mount fitting, so one piece can sit proud of the top or be set beneath a solid surface for a flush line. Under-mounting needs a solid top cut to the bowl and changes the working height, so decide before the top is templated. Front to back is usually the binding dimension, not width. The Perth pair are only 245 mm and 220 mm deep for a shallow vanity, while the Liscio at 795 x 445 x 90 and Maya at 700 x 400 x 90 are wide and shallow.

Finish is a look decision, not a performance one. Dado states polished and pearl have identical properties and characteristics, so pick the sheen you want. Thirty are polished, twenty-seven pearl, and the small Perth comes in matte black. Frequently Asked Questions

Do Dado Quartz countertop basins come with a tap hole?
None of the 58 basins in this collection carry a WTH or NTH tap hole code in the title, and Dado does not list a tap hole option on the countertop basin sheets the way it does on the pillar basins. Plan on a wall-mounted mixer, or a deck mixer set through the vanity top alongside the bowl. Settle this with your plumber before the wall is closed up or the top is templated, because both routes need pipework in a different place.
What does NOF mean, and do any of these basins have an overflow?
NOF is Dado's code for No Overflow. Fifty-six of the fifty-eight basins here are NOF, meaning there is no slot under the rim and the bowl empties only through the waste, which keeps the line of the stone unbroken. The two exceptions are the Ava at 560 x 365 x 120, listed as IOF for Internal Overflow, with a concealed channel formed inside the bowl. Overflow is cast in at manufacture and cannot be added later.
Can a Dado countertop basin be under-mounted instead of sitting on top?
Yes. Dado lists these thin-rim basins for counter-top or under-mount installation, so the same piece works either way. Sitting on top keeps the bowl visible as an object and raises the effective washing height by the full depth of the basin. Under-mounting needs a stone or solid-surface top cut to the bowl, gives a flush wipe-down line, and lowers the working height. Decide before the vanity top is templated.
What size countertop basin will fit my vanity?
Front to back is usually the binding dimension rather than width, because most vanity tops are shallower than they are long. Widths here run from 420 mm to 795 mm. The Perth pair are the shallow answer at 245 mm and 220 mm front to back, while the Liscio at 795 x 445 x 90 and the Maya at 700 x 400 x 90 are wide and shallow in the bowl. Leave room behind the basin for the mixer and in front for the rim.
What waste and trap do I need for a DadoQuartz countertop basin?
Dado publishes a waste diameter for each basin on its specification sheet, and on the countertop bowls we have checked, including the Ava and Morgane, that figure is 40 mm rather than the 32 mm common to standard ceramic basins. Check the sheet for your model before buying the waste. On a NOF basin specify an unslotted waste, since a slotted one is made for an overflow this basin does not have.
