Gio Bella Countertop Basins
Gio Bella Countertop Basins
Fourteen Gio countertop basins are stocked, made to sit on top of a counter or a vanity top rather than drop into it. Eight names run through them: Indie, Deana, Bina, Christina, Elena, Lily, Danielle and Sianna. Two of the fourteen, the Deana and the Bina, are listed as wall mounted or countertop, so they go either way. The brand is sold in South Africa as Gio and as Gio Plumbing. For the wider catalogue, start at Gio Bella.
Shapes, Sizes and Finishes
Titles carry three figures in millimetres, and the last one is the basin height in every case here, running from 120 to 150. The compact options are the 355X355X120 Sianna and the 390X390X130 Christina, which suit a narrow top or a cloakroom. The middle sits at 500X390 on the Elena, Danielle and Lily, and the largest is the 560X365X140 Indie. Shapes named in the titles are oval, elliptical, round, rectangular and square.
Five of the fourteen are black: the Christina and Elena in matt black, the Lily, a round Sianna, and a two-tone Sianna in black and white. The rest are white, with the Christina and Elena described as polished white and one Sianna as polished white and silver. The Sianna Counter Top Round Basin Black carries no dimensions at all, so confirm its size with us before you cut a top.
The Tap Is the Catch
The basin sits proud of the counter, so a standard short basin mixer will usually sit too low to clear the rim. A tall basin mixer or a wall spout solves it, and both are stocked. Five tall basin mixers are held, in the Torino, Malta and Genova ranges, on Gio taps. Four wall spouts sit under plumbing and wastes, one of them a bath type, so read the title. Only the Deana states a tap hole, so on the others plan for a tap in the counter or the wall.
Under the Counter
Because the basin stands above the top, the waste and trap show more than on an inset basin, and on a wall hung slab they show completely. A bottle trap is the tidier answer and thirteen are stocked on Gio bottle traps. Height stacks too: a 150mm basin on an 850mm counter puts the rim at a metre, which is high for children, so drop the counter when the basin is tall. Cabinets with the basin fitted are on Gio vanities.
