Gio Plumbing: angle valves, traps, wastes and spouts

This is the unglamorous half of the Gio catalogue and the half that decides whether an installation works. It holds angle valves, bottle traps, basin wastes, bath wastes, bath overflow kits, wall spouts and stand pipe pillars, listed under both the Gio Bella and Gio Plumbing trading names. Sizes are carried in the product titles, so read them: basin wastes run at 32mm, bath wastes at 40mm, and bottle traps are listed as 32 x 32, 40 x 32 or 32mm floor mounted.

Slotted or unslotted: look at the basin first

A slotted waste has an opening in the body so that water reaching the basin overflow can drain away through the waste. An unslotted waste is sealed. If your basin has an overflow hole you need the slotted version, otherwise the overflow has nowhere to discharge and a tap left running will put water on the floor. If the basin has no overflow, which is common on countertop basins, fit the unslotted one. Both are stocked in pop-up, flat top, domed and square patterns.

Angle valves and bottle traps

Angle valves isolate the supply to a basin mixer, a cistern or an appliance so you can service it without draining the house, and the quarter turn versions here go from closed to fully open in ninety degrees. Two-way, filtered 15 x 15 and Benkiser 10 x 15 valves are stocked alongside the standard round and square ones. Bath wastes, overflows and spouts

Bath side covers 40mm wastes in standard, long, domed and pop-up patterns, 40 x 35mm and extended 40 x 55mm bodies, and overflow kits including combination sets with a click waste. Wall spouts run round and square at 130mm and a 190mm round, with Nikki spouts listed separately and available as a clicker and trap kit.
