Are LED strip lights safe to use in a bathroom?
Yes, provided you pick a strip with the correct IP rating for the zone you are installing into. For mirror lighting, vanity under-cabinets and skirting accents (outside the direct splash zone), IP44 is sufficient. For shelving inside a shower or behind a freestanding bath, look for IP65 or IP67. Bella Bathrooms and Tiles stocks bathroom-rated strips across all the common ingress ratings and our team can confirm the right specification for your specific layout before you order.
Can the LED strips and bulbs in this range be dimmed?
Some can, some cannot, and the product title tells you which. Items labelled dimmable work with standard trailing edge LED dimmers (we recommend checking compatibility with your specific dimmer brand) while items labelled non-dimmable will flicker or fail if connected to a dimmer circuit. For mood and ambience layers around a bath or vanity, always specify dimmable. For functional task lighting in a cupboard or recess, non-dimmable is generally cheaper and entirely fine.
What colour temperature suits a bathroom best?
3000K (warm white) is the most common choice for bathrooms because it gives a flattering, relaxing tone that flatters skin in the mirror and feels at home in a space designed for unwinding. 6500K (cool white) is closer to daylight and works well for shaving or detailed grooming where colour accuracy matters more than mood. Do I need an electrician to install LED strip lighting?
For low voltage 12V or 24V strips driven from a plug-in transformer, you can handle the install yourself if you are comfortable with basic wiring. Anything hardwired into the bathroom circuit (including 220V GU10 and G9 bulbs and the driver for a permanent LED strip installation) must be installed by a registered electrician to SANS 10142, particularly in Zone 1 and 2 of a bathroom.
