Frequently Asked Questions
What glass thickness should I look for in a shower door?
The shower doors and screens we stock at Bella Bathrooms use 6 mm or 8 mm tempered safety glass, with most premium frameless options stepping up to 8 mm or 10 mm for added rigidity. Thicker glass feels more solid in use, sags less over time and is generally specified on larger frameless panels. Framed doors do well with 5 mm or 6 mm because the frame provides structural support. Each product page lists the glass thickness, frame style and overall dimensions.
Is the glass tempered for safety?
Yes. All our shower doors and bath screens are made from tempered, or toughened, safety glass that complies with international shower enclosure standards. Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than ordinary glass, and in the unlikely event of breakage it shatters into small blunt granules rather than sharp shards. Many models also include a hydrophobic easy-clean coating from new that helps water sheet off the surface and reduces scale build-up.
What out-of-square tolerance can shower doors accommodate?
Adjustable framed doors typically offer 15 to 25 mm of width adjustment built into the wall profiles, which absorbs most real-world out-of-square in tiled walls. Frameless doors are less forgiving and demand a properly plumbed opening, so the tiler should check the recess for square and level before final glazing. If your opening is significantly out of true, our team can recommend a configuration that will still finish neatly without an unsightly silicone gap.
Do the doors come with water seals?
Yes. Magnetic strip seals, drip strips and bottom sweeps are included as standard with each shower door in our range, designed to keep water inside the enclosure and protect the bathroom floor. Seals are a wear item and should be replaced every few years if they harden or split. Bella Bathrooms can supply replacement seals from stock for most of the doors we sell, so you keep the enclosure performing as well as the day it was installed.
Which frame finishes are available?
The collection includes chrome, matt black, brushed nickel and bespoke painted frames across various ranges. Matt black has become especially popular alongside contemporary tapware and tile selections, while polished chrome remains the timeless choice. Frameless options minimise the visual weight of the enclosure entirely, with discreet hinges and clamps in the matching finish.
