Choosing the Right Small Bath
When space is tight, consider a round or square freestanding bath (like the 1300mm Adele) rather than an elongated oval — they use floor space more efficiently. For narrow rooms, look for baths under 750mm wide that still offer full-depth soaking comfort.
Check floor loading before installation. Composite stone and quartz baths are heavier than acrylic — a structural check is worth doing, particularly in upstairs bathrooms or older buildings.

What is the smallest freestanding bath you stock?
The smallest freestanding bath in our range is 1100mm long, a Japanese soaking-style tub designed for deep vertical immersion rather than full reclining. These suit guest bathrooms, cloakrooms and bachelor flats where space is at an absolute premium. Below 1100mm, you are realistically looking at a hip bath or sit-bath rather than a true freestanding tub. For most compact South African bathrooms, the 1300mm and 1400mm sizes hit the sweet spot between footprint and bathing comfort. Will a 1500mm bath fit in a 1.6m alcove?
Technically yes, with a 50mm gap each side, but we generally advise against it. Freestanding baths are designed to be seen from all angles, and squeezing one into an alcove loses the architectural statement entirely. You also lose the cleaning gap on the sides. If you have a 1.6m alcove, consider a built-in bath instead and use the saved budget on a higher-spec tap and shower. If you are committed to freestanding, look at a 1300mm or 1400mm model so the bath has visible breathing room on either side.
Do small freestanding baths offer real soaking depth?
Yes, and this is where they excel. Compact freestanding baths are designed to be deep rather than long, with internal water depths typically between 420mm and 480mm, compared to 320mm to 360mm for a standard built-in bath. The result is fuller-body submersion in a shorter floor footprint, which is the original Japanese ofuro principle. Look for baths with high backrests and contoured seats for the most ergonomic soak. Most of our small freestanding baths still meet the 200 to 250 litre capacity of a full-sized tub.
What waste size and overflow arrangement do these baths use?
All our small freestanding baths take a standard 40mm bath waste fitting, which connects to standard SA bath waste plumbing. Some models in the range (such as the Gabriella) are supplied without a factory overflow, which means the waste plug acts as the only water level control. This gives a cleaner external silhouette but requires more attention during filling. Models with an integrated overflow are available throughout the range for those who prefer the safety net. Our team will confirm the waste configuration of each bath at order stage.
Do composite stone baths need additional floor support?
Possibly. A composite stone or Quarrycast bath in this size range weighs roughly 90 to 130kg empty, plus 200 to 250 litres of water and an occupant, putting peak load at around 450 to 500kg over the bath footprint. On a ground-floor slab this is a non-issue. On a suspended timber floor, particularly in older buildings, an engineer should sign off the loading before installation. Acrylic models in the same sizes weigh roughly a third as much and are typically safe on any structurally sound floor.

We do not include plumbing or installation: your contracted plumber connects the bath after delivery.
