Wall-type basin mixers are split into two parts. The concealed rough-in body is plumbed into the wall during the wet-wall stage by your plumber, with 15mm hot and cold inlets and a centred spout outlet. How do I choose the right spout projection?
Spout projection is the distance the spout reaches out from the finished tile face, and it determines whether water lands cleanly in the basin or splashes on the rim. Measure from your planned tile face to the centre of the basin, then choose a projection that delivers water at least 50mm clear of the back of the basin bowl. For shallow countertop basins, longer projections of 200mm or more give a more elegant fall of water. For deeper basins, shorter projections of around 150mm prevent over-reach and reduce splash.
