A deck mounted mixer stands on the basin or the vanity top and needs a tap hole cut for it, one for a single lever and three for a set with separate hot and cold handles. A wall mounted mixer comes out of the wall above the basin and leaves the deck clear, which suits countertop bowls. It costs more to install and cannot be moved afterwards without opening the wall.

A wall-type Axor mixer is a concealed installation. The basic set is plumbed into the wall before tiling, and the spout, handle and escutcheon are the finish set fitted afterwards. Three things lock in at that point. The spout projection has to reach over the bowl, and the wall types here are listed at 160 mm, 165 mm, 220 mm and 221 mm. The height sets how far the water falls, and a long drop into a shallow bowl splashes. And the basin needs no tap hole, since a drilled hole cannot be undone.
Handles, Wastes and Plates
Single lever mixers dominate. Montreux offers two-handle and three-hole versions on cross or lever handles. Axor One uses Select, pressed to start and stop the water. Citterio C carries CoolStart, where the lever in its middle position draws only cold, so a hand rinse skips the geyser. Wastes are listed three ways: push-open, pop-up, or without one, written w/o in short titles. MyEdition mixers are bought without a plate, chosen separately in glass, metal, leather, walnut or marble.
