Axor One

Axor One is the collection Hansgrohe developed with the London design studio Barber Osgerby for its premium Axor line. The idea is a single, obvious control: slim bodies, flat surfaces and soft corners, with as little visible mechanism as possible. This page holds basin mixers in several heights, a bidet mixer, floor-standing bath mixers, thermostatic modules for concealed installation, a shut-off valve and a hand shower.

How the Select Control Works

Select is the mechanism the range is known for. Instead of lifting a lever, you press the control down to start the water and press again to stop it, then turn it clockwise to raise the temperature. Because the action is a push rather than a grip, it can be worked with the back of a hand or an elbow, which is useful when you are shaving or your hands are full. Not every product here is Select: several basin mixers use a lever handle instead, and the title tells you which is which.

Reading the Product Titles

Supplier titles here are heavily abbreviated and many drop the brand, so the range appears as Axor One, AXOR One, AX One and plain One. They are all the same collection. In the shorter titles, conc means concealed installation, bas.m means basin mixer and w/o means without, as in without a pop-up waste. BRG and BBR are finish codes, Brushed Red Gold and Brushed Bronze, and both are spelled out in full elsewhere in the same titles.

Choosing a Height and a Format

The number in a basin mixer title is its ComfortZone size, which is the clearance under the spout in millimetres, so 140 and 170 suit an inset or semi-recessed basin while 260 is built to clear a wash bowl standing on the counter. Deck versions come as one, two and three hole sets, several with a push-open waste included. The concealed versions put the body in the wall and leave only the spout and control showing, the cleanest result and the least forgiving of a late change of plan.

Compare across the brand: the full Axor range, Axor basin mixers for every basin, Axor freestanding bath mixers for the floor-standing fillers, plus Axor thermostatic shower mixers for the wider module range. Round Axor Universal accessories came from the same studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Axor One?
Axor One is a bathroom mixer collection from Axor, the premium design line of the German manufacturer Hansgrohe. It was developed with Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby of the London studio Barber Osgerby, and the whole range shares one design language of slim bodies, flat faces and softened corners. The collection covers basin mixers, bidet mixers, floor-standing bath fillers and concealed shower and bath modules.
How does the Select button on an Axor One tap work?
Select replaces the lift-and-swing lever with a single control you press. Press down to start the water, press again to stop it, and turn the control clockwise to make the water hotter. Because starting and stopping is a push, you can do it with the back of a hand or an elbow while your hands are busy. Some Axor One models use a lever handle instead, so check the product title.
Why are some products listed as One or AX One rather than Axor One?
The titles come from abbreviated supplier data and the brand prefix is often dropped to save characters. Anything on this page listed as One, AX One or AXOR One is the same Axor One collection made by Hansgrohe. The only trap is the Montreux bath towel holder, whose title also contains the word one, and it is deliberately kept out of this collection.
What does the number in an Axor One basin mixer name mean?
It is the ComfortZone size, the usable clearance between the basin and the underside of the spout in millimetres. A 140 or 170 suits a standard inset or semi-recessed basin, while a 260 is intended for a wash bowl that sits on top of the counter and needs the extra height. Measure from the top of your basin before choosing, because too tall splashes and too short is unusable.
What does conc mean in an Axor One product title?
It is short for concealed installation. The working part of the mixer is built into the wall and only the control and spout stay visible, so the item you buy is normally the finish set that fits over a separate basic set already roughed into the wall. Check which half you are ordering, and settle the layout before tiling, because the position cannot be moved afterwards.
