Axor Taps

Axor is the design line of Hansgrohe, and every product here carries Hansgrohe behind it. This page holds the whole Axor tap range: concealed thermostatic shower modules, deck and wall basin mixers, freestanding and wall bath mixers, bath diverters and spouts, bidet mixers, and electronic mixers for commercial washrooms. Concealed basic sets, finish sets, MyEdition cover plates and matching hand showers sit here too. Axor at Bella is bathroom tapware and accessories only.

The Ranges and Who Drew Them

Axor names its ranges after their designers, which is the point of the brand. Citterio, Citterio E and Citterio C come from the architect Antonio Citterio. Starck, Starck Organic and Starck V come from Philippe Starck, whose first Axor range landed in 1994. Axor One is by the British studio Barber Osgerby and uses Select, which starts and stops the water with a press. Montreux is the traditional two-handle range on cross or lever handles. MyEdition is bought without a plate, chosen separately in glass, metal, leather, walnut or marble.

Concealed or Exposed

Much of this range is built for concealed installation, which changes when you order it. A concealed mixer is two purchases. The basic set, an iBox universal body on most Axor shower and bath mixers, goes into the wall and is plumbed before tiling. The finish set, the visible plate and handle, goes on afterwards and settles the finish. The iBox universal takes finish sets from both the Hansgrohe and Axor programmes.

Reading the Product Names

Axor data arrives heavily abbreviated and the titles reflect it. Conc, con and C/I mean concealed installation. Th and therm mean thermostatic. Outl, out and a bare o mean outlet. F-Set, FS and Fs mean finish set; Basic is the wall body. Bas.m and BM are basin mixer, Hdl is handle, w/o is without. SoftC is SoftCube and SoftSq is SoftSquare. BBR is Brushed Bronze and BRG is Brushed Red Gold, both Axor FinishPlus surfaces.

Narrower pages split this up: thermostatic shower mixers, basin mixers, concealed shower mixers and freestanding bath mixers. The full Axor range adds the bathroom accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Axor the same as Hansgrohe?
Axor is the design line of Hansgrohe, so the two are related but not interchangeable. Hansgrohe is the main brand, and Axor is the premium line developed with outside designers such as Philippe Starck, Antonio Citterio and Barber Osgerby. Every Axor product on this site is listed under the Hansgrohe name for that reason. The two programmes share engineering, which is why an iBox universal body accepts finish sets from either.
What is the difference between an Axor basic set and a finish set?
They are the two halves of a concealed mixer and they are bought separately. The basic set is the valve body that gets built into the wall and connected to the hot and cold supplies before the tiling goes on. The finish set is everything you see afterwards, the escutcheon plate, the handle and the lever, in your chosen finish. Order the basic set early, because the wall closes before the trim is fitted.
What do conc, F-Set, w/o and SoftSq mean in Axor product names?
Axor supplies short product names and they carry over into the listings. Conc and C/I mean concealed installation. Th and therm mean thermostatic. Outl, out and a bare o mean outlet. F-Set, FS and Fs mean finish set, and Basic means the wall body. Bas.m and BM mean basin mixer, Hdl means handle, and w/o means without, usually without a waste set or without a plate. SoftSq is SoftSquare and SoftC is SoftCube.
What is Axor FinishPlus?
FinishPlus is the Axor surface programme, applied by physical vapour deposition rather than conventional plating. It is where the Brushed Bronze, Brushed Red Gold, Brushed Black Chrome, Polished Black Chrome, Polished Red Gold and Polished Gold Optic products in this collection come from. In product titles the codes appear as BBR for Brushed Bronze and BRG for Brushed Red Gold. Chrome and matt black items are also stocked.
How do I choose between Axor Citterio, Starck, One and Montreux?
Choose on the look and the handle action, since all four are made to the same standard. Citterio by Antonio Citterio is the architectural, squared-off family. Starck by Philippe Starck is the pared-back one, with Starck Organic as the softer, flowing version. Axor One by Barber Osgerby uses a single Select control you press to start and stop the water. Montreux is the traditional range, with cross or lever handles on a two-handle body.
