Dado Quartz Basins

This is the full DadoQuartz basin range at Bella Bathrooms, 77 pieces covering both ways of getting a basin into a bathroom: a bowl on a vanity top, or a pillar basin standing on the floor. Dado casts them in Waltloo, Pretoria, from southern African quartz ore crushed and combined with resins and other natural minerals.

What NOF and IOF Mean

Nearly every Dado basin title carries one of these codes and nothing explains it. NOF is No Overflow: the bowl has no slot below the rim, the stone reads as one unbroken line, and the basin empties only through the waste. IOF is Internal Overflow, Dado's own term for a concealed overflow formed inside the bowl that carries water away before it reaches the rim. Fifty-seven of these basins are NOF and four are IOF. The remaining sixteen are pillar basins carrying a tap hole code instead, WTH for with tap hole and NTH for no tap hole. Overflow is cast into the piece, so it cannot be added later.

Countertop Bowls and Freestanding Pillar Basins

Fifty-eight are countertop basins, thin-rim bowls Dado lists for counter-top or under-mount fitting, so one piece can sit proud of a vanity or beneath a solid top. The other nineteen are freestanding basins, almost all pillar basins standing at a fixed 820 mm, 910 mm or 960 mm with no cabinetry at all. Those routes lead to different plumbing and joinery, so settle it first.

Finish, Colour and Reading the Millimetres

Finish is the real decision here, not the model name. Dado answers the polished against pearl question directly: both have identical properties, characteristics, features and benefits, so it is purely a look decision. Polished carries a soft sheen, pearl is the matte face, and a few pieces are made in matte black. Names like Ava, Gabriella, Morgane and Rio run across baths and basins alike and are usually one shape in several colourways, not separate ranges.

Every title ends in three numbers, width, depth and height in millimetres, which is how the range is genuinely navigated. The countertop bowls run from 420 mm to 795 mm wide with bowl depths of 90 mm to 170 mm. Bring them to the Kramerville showroom and we will check the basin, waste and mixer work together. The wider DadoQuartz range also holds the Dado baths.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do NOF and IOF mean on a Dado Quartz basin?
NOF means No Overflow and IOF means Internal Overflow. Dado lists the pair on its own specification sheets as internal overflow or no overflow. A NOF basin has no slot under the rim, so the stone stays unbroken and water leaves only through the waste. An IOF basin has a concealed channel formed inside the bowl that takes water away before it reaches the rim. Fifty-seven basins in this collection are NOF and four are IOF.
What is DadoQuartz actually made of?
Dado describes DadoQuartz as a proprietary composite developed from quartz ore mined in southern Africa. The ore is crushed and combined with a mixture of resins and other natural minerals, then cast at the company's factory in Waltloo, Pretoria. Dado states the material has no pores, imperfections or surface coverings that would require a gel coat, giving it a natural stone appearance and a satin finish rather than a glaze.
Is there any difference between the polished and pearl finishes?
Only in appearance. Dado states that both finishes offer identical properties, characteristics, features and benefits, so neither is harder wearing or easier to clean than the other. Polished has a soft sheen that picks up light around the rim. Pearl is the matte face and reads closer to raw stone, which suits a more textural bathroom. This collection is split almost evenly between the two, with a small number of pieces in matte black.
Should I choose a countertop basin or a freestanding pillar basin?
It depends on whether you want storage. A countertop bowl needs a vanity or shelf beneath it, which gives you cupboard space and hides the trap, and it lets you set the working height by choosing the cabinet. A pillar basin stands on the floor by itself at a fixed 820 mm, 910 mm or 960 mm, so the height is decided for you and the plumbing must be routed inside the pillar or the floor.
How do I clean a DadoQuartz basin, and can a scratch be repaired?
Dado recommends its own DadoQuartz surface cleaner applied to the basin or to a damp cloth, wiped over and rinsed with clean water. A non-abrasive mild household cleaner also works. Avoid abrasive pads and scouring powders. Because the colour runs through the material rather than sitting on a coating, scratches and chips can be worked out with a DadoQuartz Repair Kit, available through Dado distributors and showrooms.
