Duravit Mirrors
Duravit Mirrors and Mirror Cabinets
Almost everything on this page is lit. There are two things here rather than one: flat illuminated mirrors that light the face and reflect it properly, and mirror cabinets that do the same while hiding a shelf of bottles behind the glass. The ranges stocked are Duravit's Light and Mirrors series, XViu, L-Cube, Ketho and Duravit No.1, plus one D-Code cosmetic mirror, a small wall-mounted shaving and make-up mirror rather than a vanity mirror.
What Good, Better and Best Mean
Duravit sells its Light and Mirrors series in three versions, and the words are specification levels rather than marketing. Good is operated by a conventional wall switch. Better adds a sensor switch on the lower edge and two light fields at the left and right edges for direct illumination. Best adds ambient light at the lower edge to wash the basin area, plus heating behind the glass so the mirror does not mist up. All three carry an LED light band rated at more than 30,000 hours, and the LED is not replaceable, so choose the version deliberately.
Flat Mirror or Mirror Cabinet
Decide on storage rather than looks. A flat mirror sits close to the wall and keeps the room visually quiet, which is right when the vanity below already has drawers. A mirror cabinet projects further and buys concealed shelving at eye level for what otherwise clutters the basin. Both are here, including single door and wider multi-door Light and Mirrors cabinets. If storage is the deciding factor, look first at what the Duravit vanity units already give you.
Sizing and Fitting
Sizes run from a compact 450 mm Ketho through the common 600, 700, 800, 900 and 1000 mm steps to the 2020 mm XViu mirrors. XViu is the design statement, framed by the series V-shaped aluminium profiles in black matt and champagne matt. As a rule, run the mirror to the width of the vanity below it, or make it deliberately narrower, because anything in between reads as a mistake.
These are mains-connected fittings, so set the electrical supply position before the wall is tiled and have a qualified electrician terminate to SANS 10142. The Duravit basins and Duravit taps collections cover the rest of the washplace, and the wider Duravit range takes in toilets, baths and furniture.
