Duravit Toilet Seats

Most people reach this page because a seat has cracked or a soft close has stopped damping, not because they are planning a new bathroom. Duravit seats are not universal. Each is cut to the outline of a single ceramic series, so the task is to identify the pan you own and then match the hinge. Seats here cover D-Code, DuraStyle, Starck 3, Happy D.2, ME by Starck, Duravit No.1, D-Neo, Darling New, Duraplus and Viu, plus SensoWash shower toilet seats.

Identifying the Seat You Need

Start with the series name, usually marked on the ceramic. Duravit also laser marks an article number on the product, and it appears on the packaging label. If nothing is legible, lift the old seat off and measure the bowl length, its width at the widest point, and the centre to centre distance between the fixing holes. Photograph the bowl from directly above too: the outline separates a Starck 3 from a DuraStyle faster than any measurement. Send that through and we will identify it.

Soft Close, Standard Hinges and Shape Variants

Nearly every series comes two ways. A soft close hinge lowers the ring and lid under damping and a standard hinge does not, and they are separate products, so check which you are replacing. Shape variants matter just as much: DuraStyle comes in a standard and an elongated seat, Starck 3 has a version for the big toilet as well as the regular pan, and D-Code, DuraStyle and Starck 3 all have seats for the 700 mm accessible pans.

SensoWash Shower Toilet Seats

SensoWash replaces a conventional seat with a shower toilet seat that adds a washing function. Slim, Starck, Classic and D-Neo versions are stocked, each built for particular ceramics: the titles state which WC a seat is for. These are electrical products needing a supply at the pan, and several series have a dedicated pan shaped to accept one, so confirm yours before ordering. The full set is in the SensoWash range.

If the ceramic is going too, the pans are on our Duravit toilets and wall-hung toilets pages, and the parts behind a wall-hung pan are on Duravit cisterns and flush plates. The full Duravit range is on display at our Kramerville showroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which Duravit toilet seat fits my toilet?
Match the series first, then the variant. The series name is usually marked on the ceramic, and Duravit laser marks an article number on the product which also appears on the packaging label. If the pan is installed and nothing is readable, take the old seat off and measure the bowl length, the bowl width and the centre to centre spacing of the two fixing holes, then photograph the bowl from above. Those four pieces of information identify almost any Duravit pan.
What is the difference between a soft close and a standard hinge Duravit seat?
A soft close hinge has a damper built into it, so the ring and lid drop slowly and quietly instead of slamming. A standard hinge has no damper and the seat falls under its own weight. They are sold as separate products rather than as an upgrade you fit later, so order the one you actually want. Within a series the seat itself is the same shape either way, and both use the same two fixing holes in the pan.
Can I fit a Duravit seat on a toilet from another brand?
Not reliably. Duravit shapes each seat to the outline of one of its own ceramic series, so the curve of the ring, the position of the buffers and the hinge spacing are specific to that pan. A seat from another manufacturer may bolt on through the same two holes but will usually overhang or sit short, which looks wrong and puts the load on the buffers unevenly. If you are unsure what pan you have, send us a photograph before you order.
My Duravit soft close has stopped lowering slowly. What do I replace?
The damping sits inside the hinge assembly rather than in the seat itself, and it is usually the hinge that has failed rather than the ring or lid. The seats listed on this page are supplied complete with their hinges, so a like for like replacement in the same series and hinge type restores the function. Bring the old seat and its hinges in, or send a photograph of them, and we will confirm the correct series before you buy.
Which Duravit seat fits a Duraplus toilet?
The Duraplus seat and cover, listed here with a standard hinge. Duraplus is a series in its own right with its own pan, so do not substitute a DuraStyle, D-Code or Starck 3 seat on the assumption that the shape is close enough. The same rule applies in the other direction, since a Duraplus seat will not sit correctly on another series. Check the wall-mounted Duraplus pan on our Duravit toilets page if you are matching a full set.
