Black shower doors and screens in the Solo range

Eight Solo products carry a black finish across the shower door and screen categories, and the balance sits six screens to two doors. Prices run from R2,792 for the Rosa bath screen to R6,887 for the Everest. Six of the eight Solo shower screens are black, while only two of the fifteen Solo shower doors are, so if a black frame is the deciding factor you are mostly choosing screens.

On all eight, black describes the frame and the glazing bars rather than the glass. The photography shows clear panes on the Sierra, Rosa, Blanca, Mont Blanc and Everest, and a tinted grey pane on the Ossa, Pyrenees and Sicily. A black frame on clear glass reads as a hard graphic line, whereas smoked glass tints the whole aperture a mid grey.

The two black pivot shower doors

The Sicily and the Sierra are both black frame pivot doors at 900 x 900 x 1850mm, and the photographs show each as a square corner enclosure, not a single hinged leaf. The Sicily title specifies smoked glass and the Sierra title does not, which is the clearest difference between them. Both also sit in Solo pivot shower doors.

Black shower screens for walk-ins and baths

Four of the six screens are walk-in panels. The Ossa at 1200 x 2000 and the Pyrenees at 900 x 2000 both list 8mm smoked glass with an extension arm. The Mont Blanc and Everest are both 1200 x 2000 x 6mm, fixed or freestanding. The other two are bath screens at 800 x 1400mm, the Blanca and the Rosa, the only items here with glass recorded in the material field. See also Solo shower screens and Solo bath screens.

Reading the pane counts and the finish field

The numbers in the Blanca, Everest and Mont Blanc titles count panes in the grid, not millimetres of glass: eight panes in a two by four grid on the Blanca and Everest, twelve in a three by four grid on the Mont Blanc. Matt is the recorded finish on four of the eight, and thickness is recorded only where a title states it, so open the individual page before ordering, or see one in person at our Kramerville showroom. The wider brand sits under Solo sanitaryware, and the non-black doors under Solo shower doors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the glass black on these Solo shower doors and screens?
No. On all eight, black describes the frame and the glazing bars rather than the glass itself. The product photographs show clear glass behind the frame on the Sierra, Rosa, Blanca, Mont Blanc and Everest. Three carry tinted glass that their titles call smoked: the Ossa, the Pyrenees and the Sicily. Check the individual product page for what is recorded against any single item.
How many are doors and how many are screens?
Six of the eight are screens and two are doors. The doors are the Sicily and the Sierra, both black frame pivot models at 900 x 900 x 1850mm. The screens divide into four walk-in panels, being the Ossa, Pyrenees, Mont Blanc and Everest, plus two bath screens, the Blanca and the Rosa. Across the wider Solo range only two of fifteen shower doors are black, against six of eight screens.
What do the 8 Panel and 12 Pane labels in the titles mean?
They count the panes in the grid, not the thickness of the glass. Counting the divisions on the product photographs confirms it. The Blanca bath screen and the Everest walk-in panel each show eight panes in a two by four grid, and the Mont Blanc shows twelve panes in a three by four grid. Glass thickness appears separately in the titles that state one, such as the 6mm on the Everest.
Which of these come with smoked glass?
Three of them. The Ossa and the Pyrenees both state 8mm smoked glass in their titles, and both include an extension arm. The Sicily pivot door also states smoked glass in its title. The remaining five name no glass tint and their photographs show clear panes. Where a title does not state a thickness we have not assumed one, so check the product page for the recorded detail.
What sizes do the black Solo screens and doors come in?
The walk-in screens are the largest, at 1200 x 2000mm for the Ossa, the Mont Blanc and the Everest, and 900 x 2000mm for the Pyrenees. Both pivot doors are 900 x 900 x 1850mm. The two bath screens, the Blanca and the Rosa, are both 800 x 1400mm. Measure your shower opening or your bath rim against these figures before ordering.
