Rossco Under-Counter Basins
Rossco Under-Counter Basins
An under-counter basin sits below the vanity top rather than on it, so the counter surface runs unbroken across the cabinet. Most of these bowls are listed as "underslung" basins, which is the same mounting method under a different name, so you will see both terms as you browse. There are 19 basins in the range, priced from R1,843, and the choice runs from compact round bowls suited to a cloakroom through to wide ovals built for a shared family vanity.
Because the bowl is concealed, the counter material does the visual work. That makes an under-counter fit a natural partner for stone, sintered surfaces and solid timber, where a visible rim would interrupt the grain. If you would rather the basin be seen, the Rossco countertop basins sit proud of the surface, and the drop-in range falls between the two with a slim exposed rim.
Sizes and shapes
Footprints start at 290 x 290 mm and reach 630 x 510 mm, which covers a narrow guest cloakroom and a double vanity alike. Round, oval and rectangular bowls are all represented, and several Swift models come in small, medium and large, so one shape can be held across two basins of different size. Check the cabinet width and the counter cut-out against the dimensions given on each product page before you order.
Materials, colours and finishes
The range divides fairly evenly between composite and ceramic: ten basins are composite, eight are ceramic and one is brass. Sixteen are white, and the finish is polished on most of them, with a matt bowl and a gloss-interior bowl among the exceptions. Two black basins give a sharper line beneath a pale counter, and both also appear in the Rossco black basins and baths.
Planning the rest of the vanity
An under-counter bowl leaves the tap to the counter or the wall, so settle that early, because it decides where your plumber sets the water points. The Rossco basin and shower taps are worth reviewing at the same time.
