Solo Countertop Basins
Solo Countertop Basins
Thirteen white basins that sit on top of a counter rather than dropping into it. Prices run from R1 340.21 to R1 956.81, which puts the range at the practical end of the market, and the shapes cover most of what a family bathroom or a guest cloakroom actually needs. Every basin here is recorded as white.
Why they are listed as "freestanding"
Each product is titled "Solo Basin Freestanding" followed by an island name, and that wording trips people up. It does not mean the basin stands on the floor. Every one of them is a standalone bowl that rests on a counter, vanity top or shelf, which is why the catalogue types them all as countertop basins. The photographs show the same thing: a finished bowl with a flat base and no pedestal, column or floor bracket. If you need a basin that stands on the floor, this is not the collection.
Sizes, shapes and materials
The dimensions sit in the product titles. The smallest, Menorca, is 400x300x130mm. The longest, Reunion, is 600x310x110mm and reads as a long, shallow rectangle. Between them are near-square bowls such as Elba at 420x420x145mm and Tahiti at 400x420x155mm, and round bowls such as Skye at 400x135mm and Santorini at 440x140mm. Nine basins are recorded as ceramic and two as quartz, while two carry no material value at all, so read the individual product page before specifying one.
Planning the counter and the tap
Because the bowl sits above the counter, your finished height is the counter height plus the bowl, and that is worth measuring before you commit. The counter carries the full weight and needs an opening for the waste, so have your plumber work from the dimensions of the basin you have chosen. Spout height matters just as much, since the mixer has to clear the rim of the bowl. Check the height of anything in Solo basin and bath taps against the bowl before you order the pair.
The wider range sits under Solo sanitaryware, with Solo toilets and Solo shower doors if you are fitting out the whole room at once. You are welcome to visit the Kramerville showroom if you would rather talk a specification through in person.
